Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in his distinctive style. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine's the name of Denise White. She is now a resident of Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical journey began in the church where she sang and was a pianist. She studied at Spellman College and began to master the R&B style that is popular in Atlanta. She took on the role of primary pianist for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the director of the choral group for this theatrical production. Sunshine came to national interest during four consecutive performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
