Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter after her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author, as were Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sibling is Uria. Ryder moved with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time studying books since there was no TV. In 1983 when she was 12 years old, Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. older. Ryder was bullied throughout her teenage years. Ryder believed that her future as an actor would be able to make a difference. But it wasn't to come to be. However, she pushed on with her dreams. In 1988, it was when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
